OUR STORY
Gerry is from South Africa and worked in the Yachting Industry for 15 years cruising all over the world. As an outdoor enthusiast, he had a burning desire to cruise the scenic waters of Alaska! Little did he know where this journey would lead him… In July 2017 the 203 ft Motor Yacht “Sea Owl” finally arrived in Ketchikan. On the first night out exploring the town with his crew, he stumbled into the bar next door called “Fat Stan’s” and noticed a cute girl working behind the bar. Full of infused confidence he approached her and was able to persuade her into a date. Madison’s family owns the King Crab Fishing Vessel, “Aleutian Ballad” which featured in Season 2 of “The Deadliest Catch” reality series, and they have been operating it as the “Bering Sea Crab Fisherman’s Tour” here in Ketchikan since 2007.
Gerry continued navigating the oceans, but it was a struggle being away from Madison. 5 Years later, they tied the knot in Stellenbosch, South Africa and with the goal to be together, they had a dream to own a King Crab Restaurant in this fun little tourist town of Ketchikan. Amazingly, the Restaurant next to the Bar they met at, became their dream!
